Wheels, Willpower, and Bronze Success: Ansh’s Journey Without Limits

15 June 2026

Ansh’s Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award journey is an inspiring example of determination and inclusion. As a young person with cerebral palsy who uses a wheelchair, he embraced every part of the Award with enthusiasm and resilience.

For his Volunteering section, Ansh serves as an Eco Ambassador at King’s School, meeting every Tuesday lunchtime to support sustainability projects and help make the school a more environmentally friendly place.

His Physical section focused on indoor cricket at Thorndon School, where he worked hard to improve his bowling and batting, building confidence and technique through regular practice.

For his Skill, Ansh takes piano lessons at home and is working steadily towards his Initial Grade, showing patience, creativity, and commitment.

Ansh completed his expedition in the New Forest, spending three hours journeying with his group before completing three hours of independent project work. As part of his aim, he visited the New Forest Wildlife Park to develop his photography project, capturing images that reflected the environment and wildlife around him. Despite challenging terrain, he showed determination, teamwork, and a positive attitude throughout.

His reflection on the experience:

“It went really well. It was a great chance to get out, meet new people, and explore. I worked hard for my Bronze Award and I’m very grateful to the Scout team for their support.”

Looking ahead, Ansh has already set his sights on his next adventure—he will be attending the World Scout Jamboree in Poland in 2027, an exciting opportunity to connect with Scouts from around the globe and continue pushing his boundaries. Ansh’s achievements across all four sections show what young people can accomplish when they are supported, included, and encouraged to challenge themselves. His Bronze Award is a fantastic example of resilience, creativity, and personal growth.
