In Scouts, we encourage our young people to dream big and reach the top. All ages have a top award which they achieve as part of their balanced programme of activities.
Fareham West District recently held their first ever Top Awards afternoon event with an aim to recognise all the people who had achieved the top award in their section in the current academic year.
There were representatives from all sections and lots of food and cake afterwards, which may have been the highlight of the day for our younger members!
The district sees not only Chief Scout Bronze awards from Beavers, Chief Scout's Silver Awards from Cubs and a Chief Scout's Gold Award from Scouts, but also a Chief Scout's Acorn award from Squirrels.
We we really pleased to have County Commissioner Paul Bell with us to present a special award, the Kings Scout Award to Alexa. After a long wait in Fareham West, the district has seen two Kings Scout Awards this year and hopefully more to come.
We also celebrated some Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards, given to Explorer Scouts for expedition triumphs.
For Brian, part of Fareham West's Team DC, some of the highlights was being able tp meet these young people and talk to them about their awards and how they had achieved them.
