The Hampshire Youth Network (HYN) is an exciting new initiative championed by our President the Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire.
Following on from the successful cross Hampshire Youth Service last year at Winchester Cathedral - where more than 1,000 young people, leaders and parents attended to commemorate the end of the first World War.
The Hampshire Youth Network (13 – 18+ year olds), a name chosen by the young people themselves and now sit on the extended steering group.
The idea is to move towards Hampshire youth organisations communicating and working more effectively together - including Hampshire Scouts.
Members of the group currently include representatives from organisations such as Boys/Girls Brigades, the Scouts (that's us!), Guides and RN/Army/RAF/Marine Cadets and Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Hampshire Scouts are very much involved with our own Alex Evans, Haydn Allen, Daniel Cooper and Ian Greig on the group.
HYN held a successful first event ‘Picnic at the Uni’ on 31st August in Winchester attended by young people from Hampshire Scouts, Hampshire Guides, Royal Navy Cadets, Hampshire Youth Parliament, Hampshire’s Police & Crime Commissioner’s Youth Network and Winchester Royal Youth Theatre had a morning of getting to know each other and talking about their expectations for the future of HYN including designs for a ‘logo’.
